Killers or Gorillaz
LINGFIELD 4.40 ... AaH Haa 1 Pt E/W @ 33/1 Lads S.James
Abscent for 2.5 Yrs until 1st run for this yard last time out over 10 furlongs when taking a grip under a 7lb claiming apprentice and started to retreat at the 6fl mark, but stayed with the field until around 8 furlongs when tired out of it.
That was against opposition who were proven performers at the longer distance and up to 19lb higher in the ratings than he meets here.
Dropping back to 7fl looks a move in the right direction as early contest were at sprint trips and this field not full of prolific winners on sand at the trip.
Was rated around a Stone higher in Ireland and been dropped 3lb after last time.
A bit more strength and experience in the saddle with JP Guillambert taking over and if coming on from his last run should still be there at the business end when some have cried enough.
Not a great contest by any means and certainly winnable from a handicap perspective.
Our Day Will Come, is the other dropped quite a bit (19lb) since his days with Richard Hannon and Top Flight Splash the most likely winner with recent form but short in the betting.
Always the option to trade out in running if going off too fast like last time but JP Guillambert should settle him better and looks to be some value against the field.

3 Outsiders worthy of consideration for today:
Wolverhampton 15:40 : Stateside @ 25/1
Won at Hamilton under Paul Hanagan (0-75 h/cap) at 9fl and been running well over further until around the mile mark but best 3 runs at 9fl.
This drop in grade and trip could see her competitive at decent odds with Hanagan taking over from apprentice Lee Topless on board last twice.
Last race was well beaten returning from a break but contest has thrown up numerous winner in better grades, with 2nd,3rd,4th and 7th all going in since.
Hereford 15:00 : Day Du Roy @ 33/1
Ran in this last season (5th) off 16lb higher with 11St 4lb on his back.
Returns from a decent contest at newcastle where the winner Tees Components won again off 17lb higher mark in a class3 back at Newcastle.
Only a length behind the 4th Indy mood who was running off 87 and would be near top weight in this.
The 6th Coopers Gold won next time out in a 3m Class 5 Musselburgh h/cap having dropped 5lb, but had previously been 4th (off a mark of 83) to Tim Vaughans Chapel Flowers (OR97) so the race could be better than 1st glance.
Been out the weights by 8,20 and 10lb respectively last 3 runs and only 3lb out of the h/cap today is nearer to his true mark.
With all wins/ best runs around this distance and off bottom wieght the 33/1 on offer looks big.
Hereford 15:30 : Ginolad @ 10/1
With Awesome George winning off 132 at best over hurdles I feel Ginolad could give him a good race here having taken on higher rated rivals in that sphere.
Only 7 runners so 2 places only but capable of winning this if running up to his Fontwell winning effort.
Last twice met decent sorts. Penultimate run met the decent Tazbar from the Reveley stable won again and the 2nd ran 3rd place in a Class 2 Cheltenham handicap.
Last time blundered away any semblance of a run behind Burton Port (OR145) who went on to win the Reynoldstown Chase off 158 so the form looks quite strong.
Aiden Coleman up again for 3rd time on only his 4th Chase start in England with 1 win already could still be a lot more to come.

Chillin Out
FONTWELL 4.05 ... MONCADOU 1Pt @ 11/2 S.James 9/2 circa 11/2 Betfair
Moncadou been absent for 11 month and Alan Berry takes the ride for the 1st time up of the season.
He had a couple of tries at today's distance early in his carreer but last ran at this trip in 2007 when a 2.5 length 3rd to Jaunty Times with Dream Alliance a distance behind in last of the 4 runners.
Dream Alliance won a month later then finished 2nd to Denman in the 2007 Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup before going on to win the Coral Welsh National off 142 last November.
Obviously Moncadou has been hard to keep right with only 3 runs last winter for this stable which were all Class 2 handicaps against mostly higher rated rivals than he meets here.
Stable kicked into gear a bit lately with 11 winners and 11 places in the last 3 weeks.
Moncadou has gone well fresh in the past so now may be the time to catch him right and trainer re-introduces this one at a realistic level for a winning return.
Best available this morning is 11/2 S.James ... but 4/1 would be the minimum I would take elsewhere.

KEMPTON 2.50 ... VAL C 1 Pt @ 5/1 circa 11/2 Betfair
Rated 10lb higher when with Nick Littmoden and ran last 2 races here in Class 5.
Dropped another 2lb qualifies her back into this grade and has 1st time blinkers after having been left with the blindfold on as the gates opened her penultimate outing and lost the favourable draw position.
The 3rd from that event Moi Chinn Tire, placed behind 2 subsequent winners Bubbly Bellini (OR71) and Anjomarba (OR67) and won since off top weight in a 0-65 and finished a 1/2 length 2nd final outing under a 6lb penalty so the form looks decent relevant to Val C's chances for this grade.
Last run was drawn on the outside.
The winner Freddies Girl was off 69.
The 2nd Candyfloss Girl, has won since (off 68) under Seb Sanders beating a previous last time out winner.
The 3rd Caramelita, finished a close 2nd to the 82 rated Noble Greek next run so is another contest working out well formwise.
Nice draw in 12 with Seb Sanders up who has ridden 5 winners (29% Strike rate) and 7 places from last 17 rides, and hopefully will bag the rail and stay there start to finish.
A small E/W double could cover stakes if either, or both fail to get past the post first.

No Other Way
Well there is if you do a bit of trading!
Razor Royal was behind the account selection Oedipe last time out so I had a few quid saver on him in case of accidents. Ollie Magern saw a few quid go his way as he also had a bit in hand from last season with Nacarat and I felt their form lines were the strongest.
Although Fistral Beach fell I feel it was right to take him on, as Magic Sky (fav for the 4.40 Chepstow) was one i didnt rate today and was well beaten, but Le Burf the eventual 3rd came from that race so who knows?
A few quid in running on Nacarat in the final stages had to be played just to cover the stakes.
Not as deduced in the analysis but it all payed off in the end.

KEMPTON 3.05 ... OEDIPE 1 Pt @ 16/1 (circa) 20/1 Betfair
Hasn't stood much racing for his age and bypasses the Kim Muir where he would carry a big weight to run here where he runs off 10 Stone.
Against the majority of the field looks like a Pony but a gutsy little horse who should be competitive with so little weight.
Missed 2007 after winning a Class 3 Novices h/cap here by 14 length eased down on his 1st start for the yard in 2006.
First run in 2008 was down the field in the Racing Post Handicap Chase (grade 3) having made mistakes, then won his 2nd start at Aintree off only 2lb lower than today.
Most outings since has been in decent company but made mistakes on undulating tracks, as when behind Madison De Berlais in the Hennessy but now meets that rival on 22lb better terms and M.D.B has never won this early in the season.
Was down the field in this last season but made a few errors along the way and meets last years winner Nacarat 17lb better and off a more pleasing comeback effort.
Andrew Tinkler back on board having rode him to success at Aintree, and on 5 occasions in total.
Won on soft going in France, and though yet to race on it in England/Ireland (Most runs here on Gd/Sft) should find the pull in the weights to his advantage on the declared going.
Nicky Henderson should have a handle on the Nicholls horse Fistral Beach who looks short in the betting running 4lb out the handicap where Ruby will possibly put up a little overweight. He is rated 4lb lower than than stablemate Massasoit, who finished behind Henderson's Reynoldstown Chase winner Burton Port on 2 occasions and who Oedipe was behind (Massasoit) on his comeback.
With the hype surrounding this contest Oedipe has been slightly overlooked at the odds on offer in my opinion, and will certainly have to put in a clean round of jumping.
He does appear to have trained on having made a decent return only beaten 6.5 length at Sandown after 11 months away from a racecourse, and with that run under the belt should be fitter for this and back on a flatter track where he has won both starts looks worthy of a 1 Pt wager.

Giving It All Away
With No Account Selections nothing too heavy for me this afternoon.
Just a personal trade bet!
Think General Tufto should go well in the 2.30 Southwell.
Two of last 3 was over a trip too far and caught a tarta in Trans Sonic who stole the march inbetween those efforts.
Trans Sonic proved that was no fluke though when followed up last time after idling in front with nothing to race with but picked up strongly again at the finish when challenged.
Cheers For Thea won 2/3 at Wolvs and has been tried over further so this drop to a mile on this slower surface for the return from a break should be far enough and could surprise at a price if fit enough 1st time back.
Heathyards Junior also won 2 from 5 at Wolvs over slightly further and beat Ten Pole Tudor comfortably by 2.25 length on his penultimate run.
Ten Pole Tudor was just over 6.5 length behind General Tufto here at the end of January his next race so it would sway G.T as the more likely winner on that form line.
Bookiebasher Babe won 2 stronger fillies races but is on her highest mark.
Castle Myth's trainer had 2 winners here yesterday under this jock and appeals as the best of the others to me in this grade.

Such A Shame
SOUTHWELL 4.50 ... RESPLENDANT NOVA 2 Pts @ 5/1 Gen
Even though Fulford looks to have improved on last seasons efforts he is stepping up in grade here and has to be taken on in my book and looks no value!
Resplendant Nova has Daryll Holland up for the 1st time on this gelding who is only having it's 3rd run at Southwell.
Last 2 were off a higher mark (OR81) when beaten both times around 3 length last winter by Mark Johnson's Nightjar (now rated 95 and switched yards to Kevin Ryan).
Last 10 runs have all been at Kempton where he has been held up out the back or slowly away so we may know our fate early, but Holland a good man to have on your side if a front running ride is the plan, and a return to this left handed track should suit and could be the deciding factor on only his 2nd ever run in a Class6 h/cap.
Regular jockey Jimmy Quinn is on stablemate Guilenstern having won on him last time out, but wether he can live with the previous class Resplendant Nova had receiving 5lb has to be doubtful and I believe the value is in the selection, who is now off 19lb lower in the ratings (in this 0-65 contest) than when last winning a (75-90) Class 4 7fl Handicap.

Has 3 wins and 5 second places here from 10 runs at the track.
Won this in 2008 off 7lb lower and although beaten around 3 lengths last time out, the form isnt too bad as the 3rd place was running off 78 and the 4th place horse Flores Sea winning a seller on his next start by 3.7 length to Obe Gold with the 3rd horse another 8 length adrift.
Even the 6th place Gaily Noble had won his previous outing off 77.
Last 5 runs all over 7 or 8fl and the drop back to 6fl and down in class should be in his favour.
Not an outstanding price @ 4/1 currently on offer but may have a 1 Pt double on these 2 selections.
After doing the early work and having smaller stakes on the double ... it's A Shame I only put Resplendant Nova up as today's main bet!

Nothin Else Matters
LUDLOW 3.30 ... MARODIMA 2 Pt @ 13/2
Marodima joined Rebecca Curtis on a 21lb higher chase mark than when winning a Worcester Hurdle by 10 length off 2lb lower than today on his penultimate run for Paul Nicholls.
Was totally outclassed in the Queen Mother Champion Chase taking on rivals rated between 150-186 when off level weights and has been running in better class hurdles in between his chases.
Dropped 10lb since November when last contesting a handicap, (albeit a Grade2) behind Celstial Halo (OR 165), in which the 3rd Whiteoak (OR 138) won her next outing in a mares Listed when stepped up in trip, and the 2nd Mamlook (OR 147) won his next start in a Grade 2 (also stepped up in trip, suggesting Marodima was beaten by stouter stayers) before a 4th place in the Tote sport Trophy (grade 3).
A line through Ronaldo Des Mottes (2nd in the Tote sport) would bring Know The Law close into the equation, but he has won both starts at Huntingdon on gd/firm going and is half the price with it to prove on this slower ground.
Marodima has run at longer trips since until dropped back to this 2 miles in a conditions Listed race behind the 163 rated Binocular last time and this opposition looks a lot weaker.
Won 25% (7/28) of all starts at this distance and 20% (3/15) of all Hurdles with another 6 places from all 28 outings. Could pay on the E/W but at the price I feel an all or nothing Win Only wager!

Brand New Start

After running in the Weatherbys Superlative Stakes (group 2) as a 2Yr Old, Sapphire Prince was running in mostly Class4-5 company since where his mark has dropped 20lb from that run, and 11lb since August last Year here off 9St 12lb in a Class 5 h/cap over 7fl.
Won a Class 5 turf h/cap off 8lb higher in November and drops into this class for the 1st time since winning a 6fl maiden at Great Leighs.
Trainer had a recent winner on Friday after a spell away from the winners enclosure, and with Jockey George baker riding with a recent 27% winning strike rate.
Off his lowest mark Sapphire Prince has a strong chance of taking this low grade contest.
