The 1st day of the flat season, a day where good profits can be made in competitive but nicely priced events.
Yesterday evening was a welcome night out for me, but is a lesson to not only myself, but to all who attempt to invest their hard earned when still under the influence from the previous night's beverages.
Having marked down Prime Defender (3/1) as the most likely winner of the Cammidge Trophy and Pusey Street Lady as a likely outsider (40/1) decided the 3/1 on offer was a little short for a competitive race and went E/W @ 40/1 on Pusey Street Lady for a bit of value.
A good result you may think, getting 10/1 for the 2nd place on PSL, but then realised the biggest mistake was not doing the F/C which paid a healthy £146.17 to a £1.00 stake.
It was then that I should have thrown it in for the day as clearly the brain cells were probably resembling a bowl of Rice Crispy's.
Snap Crackle 'N' Pop
Jeer is an apt name for today's post, and I will take all the flack given for putting up a selection when obviously still suffering from alcoholic abuse.
Having also had Spring Jim down as a possible winner decided against him with it being his 1st outing in 4 Years, and again Sods Law dictated the outcome when William Buick (also Jockey on Pusey Street Lady by the way) gave it peach of a ride to come down the outside and nail last years winner Granston by 1 & 1/2 length.
In hindsight, we should have had the winners of both events, but It's a clear head and Foresight you need in this game!
Although a small profit on the private side a 1 point loss for the site!
