GOODWOOD 2.50 ... IVORY LACE @ 20/1 Generally
Ivory Lace looks to be extremely well treated compared to her past history of runs on downhill tracks. With 6 wins at the distance 5 of those have come with a downhill finish and 2 of them here.
Her last win at this venue was carrying top weight off a 17lb higher mark in a 0-85 contest , and today she has bottom weight in a slightly less 0-80 event.
Now to me I can excuse her last 2 efforts as she didn't get a clear run and her last turf efforts at the end of last season were in Class2 and a Listed race over 10fl.
She has a massive 13lb pull with Choreographer (drawn wide) for around a 3.5 to 4 length defeat from their last encounter so granted a clear passage should better the form with that one.
But her best run for me was last July in a (20 runner) Class3 H/cap here, to finish within 2.5 length to Yamal and Luca Cummani's Swop is superb in the context of this as that was off 12lb higher than today and it stands out head and shoulders above the rest.
She should get a good pace to chase with Salient (badly drawn) in the contest and will need a good run through from her hold up style, but getting those requirements she can win this, at worst be placed.
Ivory Lace (Strong) 1/2 point E/W

GOODWOOD 5.40 ... MUJOOD @ 11/1 S.James B.O.G
I always wonder who actually compiles the odds in races when horses are priced up at half the odds of my selection who have previously finished behind in earlier contests.
Not one to complain when I think some good value to be had!
Trafalgar Square won this event 2 seasons back off 78 but that was in a smaller field and on soft/heavy going and is 6lb higher. He still looks handicapped off his all weather rating, as he hasn't threatened on turf since given this mark in a 7fl Nmkt h/cap in 2007 and looks under priced @ 7/2 for what he has achieved on grass since.
Beauchamp Viceroy drops into this grade for the 1st time since his 2Yr Old days and the trainer had a winner here yesterday, but he has a tendency to pull hard and is another who looks more rated on his all weather exploits than for what he has done on grass.
Cape Hawk looks the one to beat if his run in the Totesport Mile here is as strong as it 1st appears, but that contest favoured the high drawn horses where the 1st five home came from the 16-20 berths from the 20 runners.
Mujood is the call, as from 10 visits here he has won 3 and placed 2 and the ability to handle this downhill track is only another plus for him today.
Mujood gets 3lb from Cape Hawk as opposed to the 1lb when he was racing off 9lb higher, and just failed by 1/2 length to front runner Salient (rated 86) giving him 5lb, with Cape Hawk 2.5 length behind. That was on soft going, but showed he handles extremes of going where he ran up 3 wins at a variety of distances and going around this time last year and the only time he has ran here at a mile.
His best came here in a 7fl Class 2 Classified Stakes later on in June, when giving 7lb to (the 95 rated) Firestreak of a 7lb higher mark than today, and if running to that level looks well in for this.
I believe the value lies here with Mujood and a 1 point win suggested.
