YORK 1.40 ... NORTHERN FLING @ 14/1
Dandy Nicholls saddles the 4 runners here, and Strike Up The Band will ensure a good pace from his middle draw.
Tournedos (last years winner) meets him on better terms from winning this last season and a line through Sohraab would give them the beating of Sonny Red.
Sonny Red put in a decent effort having his 1st outing for the yard that day, and was getting 10lb from the winner Cheif Editor (rated 107) the 2nd Sohraab was getting 12lb, who were also having their 1st runs out for the season, where a race fit Cheveton was a further 1.5 length in arrears.
Northern Fling had beaten Chief Editor giving him 5lb at Doncaster in a competitive sprint last April and hasn't had the best of luck with the draw, going or luck in running since.
His run in the Hong Kong Sprint last season giving Strike Up The Band 9lb means getting 7lb today meets him on 16lb better terms at the revised ratings/weights.
Directly afterwards he met yesterdays Blue Square Stakes (group 2) 2nd, King's Apostle ( rated 112) on 1lb less in last years Stewards Cup to finish around 4 length behind, and runs off 8lb lower today.
His last run at Beverley he was drawn out wide and being held up had no chance of getting into it. He meets Everymanforhimself (was well drawn) 2lb better here from that contest, and though luck in running is again sure to play it's part, from the 6 box today he should fair a lot better and has a lot more in his favour for a strong showing.
Although priced for an E/W return, a 1pt win @ 14/1 is the call.

YORK 3.10 ... WASAN @ 9/1
I think this will run well with the blinkers fitted to sharpen him up for this drop in trip.
Was most progressive last year and has won 1st time up last 2 seasons.
Jockey been aboard for 3 of his 4 wins from 6 starts!!
One To Watch:
YORK 4.55 ... CRITERION @ 40/1 E/W??
Only had the 9 runs and has been highly tried in the past when with Sir Michael Stoute.
Last May finished a good 2nd to Amerigo on good/firm going in a 14fl H/cap, who franked the form to go 2nd in the Queen's Vase (group 3) at Ascot to this years Sagaro Stakes winner Patkai, and on his 1st run this season Amerigo finished a close 2 length 5th in this year's Chester Cup.
Ran as far as 22fl over the jumps (1 length 2nd on fast going) so should last home and his comeback on soft going may not have suit, so tried with cheekpieces on today may help, and if better for that run could surprise at a price!!
Looks too big at the 40/1......... 95's Betfair
