GOODWOOOD RACES

GOODWOOD 2.10 DOME ROCKET 1 pt E/W @ 25/1 (Gen)

River Captain who has shown a liking for a downhill finish, is 6lb better in than Mirrored from their last encounter but having gone up 21lb since April the handicapper could have his measure.
Dome Rocket has been really consistent and already ran 2 good races here. First time out over 9fl on soft going he finished strongly and just failed to get up.
His 2nd visit here in a Auction Maiden race is working out well with the winner 'Elliptical' going in again, and the 2nd 'Sabotage' winning his next outing before a good 2nd to Akmal at York and wasn't disgraced when again upped in trip against his elders when 3rd behind Munsef at Ascot.
Dome Rocket was running on real strong at the finish last time when he won by a good 1.5 length in that Epsom race, again proving himself on a downhill track and though racing off a 5lb higher mark here he races with only 7St 12lb to carry and won't mind any further rain.

Update: 5.15 ... One To Consider

GOODWOOD 5.45 LITTLE PETE

Piscean takes the eye being unbeaten in 3 starts here, twice with Little Pete behind. Little Pete has also a good track record being in the 1st 4 all starts here and has a 7lb pull in the weights from their last encounter for a 2 length deficit. Piscean was getting 13lb from from Little Pete at this meeting last season in the Turf Club Handicap and finished a nose in front but has to concede 3lb today.
Little Pete didn't get the clearest of runs behind Indian Trail at Epsom and meets him on 9lb better from that event and finished a length in front of him last time. Providing his draw in not a negative after the 1st three home in the King George (Audi Stakes) were drawn in the lowest numbers he should be competitive off this mark today!

  2. Hi Trigster,
If you mean Dome Rocket, looking back, I'll be the 1st to admit it was a poor selection.
Little Pete played up before the start and lost his chance but is still well handicapped and if turning out today over another furlong it will be interesting to see what happens.
This month has been another shocker for me TBH.
I know I can do better so we will see what nezt month brings ;)

  4. Yeh Trigster, this month is another to forget in a hurry.
I'm quite sweet on todays selection however, so it may pull back a few points if he runs to form...
