HAMILTON 5.20 ... FIRST SWALLOW 1 pt E/W @ 16/1 Lads, 14/1 (Gen)
First Swallow ran a cracking race 3 runs back on soft going at Doncaster, when getting going all too late behind Feelin Foxy, with Select Committee a head in front in 2nd place.
Feelin Foxy showed that form as strong going down a neck to Blue Jack (rated 89) in a 24 runner Goodwood Handicap being one of 3 placed efforts in his next 4 outings in Class3 / Class4 company.
Select Committee went on to finish another honourable 2nd when he had today's favourite Lake Chini 3.5 length in arrears off equal terms next time so Lake Chini is one to take on in my book.
On his penultimate run First Swallow was hampered and reported to have not handled the bend so on this straight course should have no excuses, and wasn't in the strongest hands last time out when upset in the stalls before racing.
High drawn horses have a good history on soft going here so a lot in his favour, especially with Paul Hanagan back in the plate.
He has gone well on soft to heavy going in the past and won his one race from 3 outings on soft at this trip from 7 attempts at it so conditions look right.
A win not out of the question but some value in a E/W wager as other soft ground performers to take him on.
