TAUNTON 5.20 ... SUPERFLY 2 Pt @ 12/1 (circa)
Superfly was going well until falling 3 out in a 2m 6f, Class 2 Newton Abbot Hurdle (Good/Firm) in 2007 when rated 25lb higher than today, and not seen out until he returned last season at Uttoxeter over 20fl (good/firm) and led for a long way when tiring 3 out and pulled up.
Given another short break he returned in December where 3 runs on soft going over the winter has seen his mark drop another 15lb.
His other best effort was also on firm going in 2007 which resulted in a 17 length win (on equal weights ) over Joe Lively, who won 7 from next 9 outing's that year culminating in success in the Feltham Novices' Chase (grade 1) off a mark of 151, so shows Superfly has ability if the going since has been an issue.
This the 1st time he's had ground with firm in the description since last summer where he most likely needed the run after 22 month off the track.
Can front run and on a track where it pays to be handy has a 1st time visor today to help him concentrate on what can be tricky fences.
This drop in trip shouldn't be an issue if reverting to his front running role, and his stamina for further should also stand him in good stead on the final climb for home.
With a clear round has a lot in his favour for a winning run back on what looks his prefered going.
