SEPTEMBER 11

A memorable day in the American calender and hopefully one we can remember as being memorable for very different reasons.

SANDOWN 2.15 ... PISCEAN 1 Pt @ 14/1 S James, BlueSq

Piscean already 3 runs here this season and was extremely unlucky in June having lost 4 length out the gates to finish with a storming late run to be beaten just over a length before returning in July to win with a late finish having again been away slowly as seems his trait these days.
Appears to hold at least 4 of these on previous encounters, and with his better form coming in these 8-12 runner fields is reasonably treated if all falls right off only 2lb higher than July success.
Royston French 1 from 2 on him and should get a decent pace with Cape Royal likely to take them along.
Could hit a lot higher in running as he is normally produced late but the 14/1 on offer worthy of a 1 Pt wager

DONCASTER 2.45 ... ARGANIL 1 Pt E/W @ 65 Exchanges ... 50/1 S.James, Boylesport ... 40/1 others

Only contested a handful of turf handicaps having been trying his chances in Group/Listed events on the grass and looks the outsider of 1 of 4 runners for Kevin Ryan yet has been running better than his form figures suggest.
Meets stablemate Bajan Tryst on 17lb better terms for a 6 length deficit at Dundalk last time out and returns to turf off 7lb lower than beaten 4 length running the 'wrongside' in last season' 6fl Ayr Gold Cup when fading close home.
Had just failed previously over 5fl at Haydock that season giving 9lb to the eventual winner so holds every chance off this 4lb lower mark at this intermediate trip.

DONCASTER 5.00 ... SWOP 1 Pt @ 10/1 Ladbrokes

Returns from Meydan on a similar mark as last season when he ran here in the Lincoln.
Had won his 1st turf handicap at this venue and his other run at this straight mile here this time last Year was beaten around 2 length having had no sort of run in the final furlong and followed that with a credible run in the Cambridgeshire racing off 3lb higher than today.
Luca Cumani certainly adept at having one ready returning fresh and around 20% winning strike rate this season, 17% last 2 weeks
Fallon had 6 winners teaming up with the yard the last month and riding over 30% winners himself in the last 2 weeks and 17% overall this season.

  2. Hi JM,
I remember it very well myself. When the newsbroadcast was shown on British Television I couldn't comprehend it was actual live footage I was watching.
Will never forget it, as neither will millions of others!

On luckless days betting as today, on reflection it makes you realise just how lucky we really are!!
