Sunday's Sinners

MUSSELBUGH 4.20 ...RAUCOUS @ 16/1

We put this up last time out and he duly did the business to win comfortably here (albeit in a seller).
But with 2 runs under the belt for the season he should have strengthened up a bit for this step back up in grade as he has gone well in better company than this in the past.
He loves top of the ground and will get it today, and having been tried as far as 2.4 miles in the Ascot Stakes where leading for 12-16 furlongs this front runner will ensure a true test.
He was around 5 length behind Nicky Henderson's Sentry Duty (then flat rated 93) with Finalmente (rated 99) just in front 2 seasons back in a Class 2 Heritage h/cap, so running in this Class 4 off off 6lb lower today is still well treated from a handicapping perspective.
Paul Mulrennan keeps the partnership and Ruth Carr looks to have the gelding well placed into another winable contest.
Oddsmaker, is back at a more suitable distance having contested a mile race at Newcastle last time but is 5lb higher than finishing 2nd in this in 2007.
My Immortal takes a change in code and is fit from chasing so could go well but the last time he ran/won on the flat he beat 80 rated rivals at best and had the run of the race from a handy pitch at Chester.
I'm not convinced Soundbyte, now 7lb better than Phoenix Flight are yet up to this, as both have had more starts than the selection and still have to prove the trip is within their capabilities.
Gordonsville alwayd find one too good but runs well here, as does Danzatrice who is closely rated on the revised weights from their last encounter here and he could be the one for a small F/C in a competitive looking contest.

Raucous 1 point win

MUSSELBURG 2.50 ... CAPE VALE @11/1
Top weight here but deservedly so after his 3 Yr Old efforts.
He had Hamish McGonagall (who won the York Sprint Cup here last October) just in front in a strong Thirsk sprint when last tried at this trip and is rated 5lb superior to stablemate Blue Tomato who won this last Year off 1lb higher.
Had the likes of yeterdays 3rd Flowing Cape behind when tried over further, but won his 1st two outings sprinting at 6fl.
Rothesay Dancer went close last time to Stablemate of Cape Vale but is 3lb higher taking on a similar rated rival, and was beaten 2 & 1/4 length by Sandwith last year here getting 4lb and and now meets him on equal terms.
Highland Warrior is 4lb lower than winning a Class 3 here but that was 4Yrs ago and though not getting any younger at 10 Yr Old he had Seafield Towers well adrift here in October last Year.
Jaconet looks the danger on recent form but is raised 18lb since last July when he won a York H/cap by 4 length from the front, he made all to win comfortably on the Cat Litter at Wolverhampton latest and if given an easy lead will be hard to catch.

Cape Vale 1 point win @11/1
Jaconet 1 point win @13/2
1/2 point Rev F/C
