WEDNESDAY'S SELECTION'S

WINCANTON 2.50 ... WUN CHAI @ 25/1 E/W
Top Weight 'Or Sing About' was in the process of a good show when falling on his seasonal debut. He has form on fast ground and also here but looks to have plenty weight off his highest ever mark.
Earth Dream @ 11/4 looks to be trading on the trainers reputation more than for what he has achieved.
Present And Correct has sketchy jumping and front runner Winsley Hill will more than likely set it up for a finisher or be held up for the trip and be outstayed over the furthest he has gone.
Of the rest Portland Bill will stay and looks the danger with good course form to his credit, and the yard won this last season with a similar rated type, he has a tongue tie fitted and he may well improve upon his recent efforts but he has it to prove on the going and has to concede 8lb to Wun Chai.
Wun Chai has dropped 7lb since a disappointing run 1st time up at Kempton in a race where many race fit, and up to 26lb higher rated last time out/recent winners were taking each other on.
He hasn't had much racing in the last 3 yrs but won twice here last season after a 10 week winter break so it could be he needs this better ground than he got at Kempton.
David England (Jockey) not exactly banging the winners in but has ridden 7 places in the last fortnight and is capable on his day as he showed when aboard for the only 2 success' here last Year.
The horse has had another 6 weeks to freshen up and clearly can go well after a break so now could be the time to catch him on this better going. He has 6lb in hand of Major Malarkey for beating him 23 length here last season, and that one is trading at 10/1 ???

If the going has been the issue then Wun Chai will either perform really well or go the other way, so not a race to go over the top with but a bit of value looks to be had @ 25/1 and a 1/2 point E/W suggested tops!

plus 15 points

FOLKESTONE 2.40 ... VHUJON @ 8/1
For Life, drawn in the 1 stall likes to bowl along and did so to win here 18 month back but is 5lb worse off with Buxton.
Buxton has bagged the rails draw but as normally held up it doesn't look ideal for him.
We Have A Dream also won here from a prominent position last season and is well drawn in 2 to hunt the pace but normally needs his 1st run.
Aye Aye Digby's 2 wins have been by the narowest of margins and looks weighted up to the hilt.
Hustle is the imponderable dropping in trip with the tongue tie fitted, as he ran Military Cross close in a mile race last June where he led till the 6fl pole. Spencer normally likes to come from behind but if front running tactics are employed today he could be dangerous if getting to the front early.
Resplendant Alpha is still fairly h/capped but has the outside stall to overcome as does Regal Royal.
Vhujon has won 1st time out the last 2 seasons and a straight run 6fl looks ideal from what looks a decent draw. He should get the strong pace he needs to settle and is 8lb lower than when winning on the All Weather last Autumn

Vhujon ... 1 point win
Hustle ... 1/2 point R. F/C

minus 2 points

  7. Fantastic tip. Only found your blog yesterday, but thought it would be worth having a cautious E/W punt on Wun Chai. Totally forgot I'd placed the bet, until I logged onto Betfair and saw my new balance.

    Thanks again.

  9. Thanks for the comments fella's.
Just hoping we can keep it going until the holidays in 10 days time.
It won't be for the lack of trying but we are looking forward to some time off to be honest, and the flat just gets into top gear in May and it's a long summer so the break will be a welcome refresher...
    Regards Anthony
