Satudays Selections

ASCOT 2.15 ... RED SOMERSET ... 1/2 pt E/W @ 66/1 Stan James/Ladbrokes ... 50/1 Generally

Fishforcompliments will be popular after running stablemate Mr Hardy close on his comeback. He is 5lb lower than last season and Freddie Tyre Licker takes off a valuable 5lb and the 8/1 looks a fair price.
With the stalls in the centre there could be some bunching in the middle early on however, but he could try to make all as he can front run, but with only a 6fl auction maiden success to his profile could be one to take on.

It should be a strong run contest and one drawn on the stands side who takes the eye is Red Somerset, who looks overpriced for this and should represent some value. He has stamina for a mile and is another who can make the running and he should be able to keep out of trouble from his 1 stall.

After chasing home Yamal in a Bath 1 mile h/cap off top weight last Year, he won his next outing here in a Class4 1 mile h/cap carrying 9St 9lb and made just about all from a similar low draw.
Has been running consistently well on the All Weather over the winter off a higher mark and wasn't disgraced in a stakes race behind (the 107 rated) King Of Dixie on his final outing.

He returns to turf 7lb lower and has a 7lb pull with Spitfire (better at 6 Fl) when held up on his penultimate start behind David Nichols "Something" who was returning this season a well handicapped horse, having himself gone close here in the 2007 Wokingham off a 104 rating.
As he handles most going so there should be no excuses on that front and there looks to be pace alongside to give him a tow should he miss the kick.

In this large field a 1/2 point E/W @ the 66/1

minus 1 point

LINGFIELD 5.30 ... Carlitos Spirit @ 17/2

I like the look of last years winner Carlitos Spirit, who has been tried in better class since winning this last season under this jock by 1.5 length and then won a class4 Nmkt h/cap by the same margin off 2lb higher than today.
Caprio franked the form the other day winning off a 77 rating after chasing home the 83 rated Royal Dignitary (himself won since)
Tartan Gigha has also went in again since from their Kempton class4 0-85 encounter in March.. Carlitos penultimate run he was drawn away from the action and last time out in a Flat V. Jump jockeys was a better contest than this over slighty further!

Will be playing a 1 point win, with Paraguay for 1/2 point F/C

Good Luck if you play!

minus 1.5 points
