2 SELECTIONS FOR TODAY

BATH 5.00 ... FINNEGAN McCOOL 1 pt E/W @ 20/1 Bet365, SJ, Sky,

This race has a real uneven look to it as here we have Triple Dream who put in a much improved effort latest and is currently 4/1 favourite?
He ran a good race at Newbury 3 starts back but was 1.75 length behind Kyllachy Storm on his previous outing here and is now 5lb to the good so it should be close between them again.
Kyllachy is 5lb higher than he has ever won off so looks vulnerable to anything well handicapped which is where the selection fits in.
Finnegan McCool was running off nearly a Stone higher at the start of the season and this is his first venture dropping into a Class5 running in handicaps.
Apprentice John Fahy claims 5lb putting him nearer the foot of the weights with only 9St 1lb to carry against horses rated inferior.
He has 3 wins and 6 places from a total of only 22 rides this season and when teaming up with Ralph Beckett he has ridden 2 of his 3 winners and 3 places for the yard.
His penultimate outing he was carried left across the course so I am willing to ignore that run.
Drops back in trip after leading for much of the way last time over 7fl and the 20/1 on offer looks a value E/W selection considering he is handicapped to win this if getting the race run to suit.

PONTEFRACT 5.40 COMPTON SPIRIT 1 pt @ 9/1 WillHill 8/1 (Gen)

King Of Swords is out again and has the cheek pieced in place for the 2nd time and though still below his highest winning mark, he is worse of at the weights with Digital who is a real frustrating horse to assess.
Digital has only 4 wins at this trip from 23 tries and you never know what mood he is going to be in. This distance looks his minimum as he always get going late and his 2 efforts over 6fl here 2Yrs back don't give encouragement to his chances today.
Darcy's Pride is well drawn if taking on the front running role that saw him score at Redcar in April off 1lb higher.
He had Compton Spirit 1/2 length behind but was getting 10lb that day where as today he only gets half that.
Compton Spirit looks to have a bit to find with Monte Casino from their last race but came wide that day and is the one who is better drawn today.
Monte Casino also is still a maiden so you have to favour the course and distance winner Compton Spirit, who has the same jockey aboard when beating course specialist Mr Wolf here and is now 7lb lower.
Compton Spirit' both wins and 6 of his 8 placed efforts have been on similar going so has what look his ideal conditions returning to his last winning venue.

3rd ... minus 1 point
