The Cardinal Sins/Summary of Results

The Cardinal Sins

Finnegan McCool was ridden completely different to last time when making the running.
His jockey made the Cardinal Sin in my opinion, having been prominent last time he held him up out the back, making his challenge coming wide round the field and though he was never going to win from there, he found Swinbrook too good to even get the place.
I got Triple Dream & Kyllachy Storm correct in that they would go close to each other.
Too close considering they were 1st N 2nd

I knew Digital wasn't a particularly good yardstick as he is so inconsistent but it swayed my judgement if I'm honest as he was better in at the weights than King Of Swords so I had to take K.O.S. on.

So Cardinal Sin number 2 was my own doing as King Of Swords, given as a winner at a nice price last week got the race ran in the same vain as that success.
The aids he wore last time appeared to work a 2nd time and he got the race run to suit.
Even though a loss on the day, I think my read on this race was better than some over the past months as Darcy's Pride took up the running from his inside berth and Compton Spirit followed him throughout the contest where he made his move too late I thought.

Andrew Elliot gave the winner the perfect ride to be honest as when making his challenge to the leader Darcy's Pride, (who wasn't going to move off the rail) he kept in Compton Spirit who had to switch round behind King Of Swords to make his final challenge.
The Racing Post got the run more to the mark with their synopsis "Chased leaders, not clear run and switched right approaching final furlong, stayed on well inside final furlong, finished strongly" so we could call it an unlucky run.
All too late as far as we are concerned but Compton Spirit went off @ 5/1 so even accounting for there would have been a rule4 with the later withdrawal of Select Committee, the early 9/1 was the value selection.
