MUSSELBURGH RACES

Update 5.15 .......

MUSSELBURGH 7.35 ... NICKEL SILVER @ 10/1 Lads, Coral, WHill, Bet365, BsQ, Betfred
Racoon won here off this mark 2 seasons back but that has been the accolade of his career and was easily brushed aside by Blue Tomato at Hamilton on equal weights.
It's interesting Dandy Nicholls takes on former inmate Blue Tomato with Northern Bolt, and though dropping down the ratings looks to want soft going on evidence to date so he has to be passed over unless the rain comes.
He was backed in early this morning from 20/1 to around the current 8/1 so I would assume he was put up by a tipping line on the assumption the forecast rain would arrive, but there hasn't been much movement since or much rain either.
Hypnosis will like the going but has never ran well here in this grade and prefers Catterick where he had Northern Bolt behind when last winning there and off 4lb higher, he meets him 8lb worse for 4 length.
Speedy Senorita looks held on recent running by Hypnosis and Rothesay Dancer, yet meets Hadaf on 8lb better than when a head behind him at Newmarket last season and is nearly 3 times the price, so Hadaf doesn't hold any value in my opinion and looks a false favourite.
The Nifty Fox has been running well of late but has never won with firm in the going.
Nickel Silver has been a different horse since the blinkers were introduced, and Tom Eaves one of the top jockey's round here who has been aboard for all this gelding's success' and for 3 of his 4 placed efforts.
Although yet to win on grass, his 2.25 length 7th place in the Scottish Sprint Cup here when taking on horses rated 20lb higher than the ceiling for this was an extremely good effort off a 3lb higher mark than today, considering those higher in the handicap were rated 25lb his superior.
Rothesay Dancer was 2.25 length in arrears so has work to do to turn round the form on 2lb worse.
Nickel Silver meets Le Toreador on 5lb better terms than their last encounter for 1/2 length deficit on his penultimate run and his last run can be excused when missing the break at Chester.
Not particularly well drawn on the outside but there looks to be plenty pace around and providing he gets a good run through he should be competitive off this mark with Tom Eaves the deciding factor.
Le Toreador has the assistance of Amy Ryan who claims the 5lb difference so he looks the one to beat and is the choice for a small stakes R/F/C.

NICKEL SILVER 1.5 point @ 10/1

NICKEL SILVER / LE TOREODOR 1/4 pt R/F/C

3rd ... minus 2 points
