Summary of Results

I had an appointment I couldn't miss which was the reason for the early message, the first time for weeks I have sent the text message out earlier than 1.00 p.m. and I can only apologise for my error as it decided to persistently rain changing the official going to good.
Good my Ar*e.
The going was definitely on the soft side as when the runners come stands side it is indicative of the change in condition of the ground.
It doesn't help when the form goes up in the air in a matter of hours, and even had I returned in time to advise a no bet I imagine it would have been all too late anyhow, and 1 point down the drain.
A watchful eye on the weather and a later text tomorrow is on the agenda if there is any consistency in the going.

Below: Official Going descriptions throughout the day!!

9:01am Going details GOING: GOOD TO FIRM (Firm in places) (Course dolled out 3m round bend from 5f to 2 1/2f)

10:39am Additional non-runner 2.40 6 True Decision

TEXT message sent approx @ 11.28 a.m.

12:49pm Going and weather update It has been very wet and windy at Brighton, but the rain is due to stop any time. Clerk of the course Richard Aldous says there has been 3mm of rain since 8am, but all he has done with the going is to remove the 'firm in places' which he included first thing this morning before the rain came.

The going, therefore, is 'good to firm', as it was in the papers, but it will be interesting to see what the jockeys say after the first, and whether any try coming down the stands' side today.

2:16pm Rain may have got in The time of the first race was four seconds slower than RP standard

The official going has been changed to good

Jamie Spencer reports the going to be on the slow side of good after riding in the first.

2:34pm It hasn't stopped yet The rain was due to stop at around 12.30, but two hours on it's still continuing, albeit not as hard.

The wind is as strong as ever, and it's pretty much into their faces.

3:30pm Red Reef out They are still calling it 'good' ground, but the evidence of one's eyes suggests the rain has got in now and that has persuaded Denis Coakley to withdraw Red Reef from the 4.25.

3:35pm About time The going has now been changed officially to 'good to soft'.

  2. Yes, but it was a losing pound!

The point is Darren, if the clerk of the course had been honest with the going description a lot of trainers may not have run their horses or even sent them to the track in the 1st place.
Quite often many courses dont give an accurate account of the ground as they dont want depleted fields.
That doesn't help us punters though when they decide to change the going at 3.15 in the afternoon.
Just boils my P*ss that's all.
    Rant Over ;)
