Summary of Results

Even though 1 point lost I was happy enough to only get involved in the One race today as it looked a normal saturday full of false going descriptions, and it came to light after the racecourses had their declared runners on transit to the tracks.

I decided to take the chance that early reports were correct about Doncaster but even after the 1st race they said it was riding quicker than they had the description as the times were just outside standard.

Cornus was slow to get into it, and thats his normal style of running to come from the back but he was never near to threaten those who took it up from around 3 out.
He began to make up ground when the race was all but over, and was beaten around 4 lengths at the finish. Perhaps another try over further may suit but the going was changed throughout the day from early morning as it was at other tracks throughout the day.

Official reports from the RP.
7:47am Buckets of overnight rain The going is now good to soft, soft in places after 26mm of overnight rain.
Having changed from good to firm, plenty of non-runners are to be expected.

12:18pm Weather report It's not a great day here, very cloudy, although the rain that has hit the track since yesterday appears to have moved away now.

GOING: SOFT (7.1) changing to GOOD TO SOFT (Soft in places on Round course) after Race 2 (2.35).

Official Analysis
Following 26mm of rain overnight and more during the morning the going was officially soft and, with the ground at the 48-hour declaration stage having been good to firm, plenty of non-runners were to be expected. There were four taken out of this opener. However, the winning time for this race, just 0.82 seconds outside Racing Post Standard, suggested the ground wasn´t that soft.

Epsom also changed their going description after the 1st race which they said they would!!

11:32am Slight going change The going has been updated as follows:

The Derby course is Good, good to firm in places
The Five Furlong course is Good to firm, good in places

At 11am there had been 1.6mm since 7am which is expected to clear.

1:04pm Going change on the cards
Expect underfoot conditions at Epsom to change after the first. Clerk of the course Andrew Cooper reports that 2mm of rain have fallen on the track since racing yesterday and although he will leave the going unchanged as good, good to firm in places for the first, he is expecting it will officially be good after that race.

1:45pm Ground described as loose The general consensus among jockeys riding in the first was that the ground was loose on top.

1:43pm Official ground change The going is now Good.

Why not ******* declare it as it is in the 1st place??
