SOUTHWELL 4.10 ANGLE OF ATTACK @ 25/1 Generally
Speaking to Roderick Duncan, the clerk of the course, he expects the going to quicken throughout the day as he didn't harrow the fibre sand too deep and just took the top off, so he (Angle) shouldn't get too bogged down as his last run was a complete shocker on Heavy going.
His penultimate run was against rivals rated 15lb higher than for this which has thrown up numerous winners (Tangerine Trees,Dandy Man) and placed runners in higher grades, notably the winner, Baybshambles finished just behind yesterday's Epsom Dash winner Indian Trail his next start in a Class4 H/cap.
Well worth a try in this grade stepping up in trip as I believe he has been taken off his feet at the minimum distance against some in form 5fl sprinters.
Mostly been running over 5fl but was often ran at this trip as a 2Yr Old when trained by Richard Fahey, and has ran up to marks 18lb higher than today since joining current stable.
Not many trainers improve one from Fahey's yard, but Angle Of Attack has been entered in a very winnable race here, and the last and only previous time he ran in a Class 6 handicap he won off a 6lb higher mark than today on 1 of only 4 attempts on the All Weather.
His other success coming on soft was off 12lb higher (with recent winner Rothesay Dancer in arrears) so he should handle the slow surface here against this lesser oposition.
His run directly after that success was over 6fl against recent Class2 & Class3 winners Mister Hardy, Grazeon Gold Blend and Class3 6fl Southwell winner Ingleby Arch who were all rated around the high 70's.
Off his lowest mark for some time he will either perform really well or completely bomb out, but at the current price, if he is going to stay the 6fl in this grade, I would rather be on @ 25/1 today than next week @ 3/1 if he proves still up to the job.
Worthy of an E/W wager at the price but I think he will be all or nothing, and go 1 point win for NoseAhead.
